31/04/23: 2023 MIDDLETON CUP TRIALS
Congratulations to Poole Park Members, Bob Atkins, Tony Hume, Olly Kenway, Chris Kane and Andy Paulley on being selected for Trials for the Dorset Middleton Cup Team, being held on Monday, May 8th at Dorchester Bowls Club.

7/05/23: CORONATION LUNCH
Over 30 of our Members enjoyed celebrating the Coronation weekend with lunch, a raffle and a “Royal” quiz. The Event could have been twice the size if we had the capacity, but there will be many more coming up for all to enjoy. Photos can be seen on our Facebook page here.


 

12/05/23: BOWLS DORSET TRIAL MATCH
Congratulations to Poole Park Members, Penny Cresswell, Rebecca Cresswell, Bridgette Hodder, Emma Langridge, Julie Leake, Steph Pinson, Millie Tuck, Ollie Kenway, Chris Kane and Dave Hodgkiss on being selected for the Bowls Dorset Trials Match (Johns Squad vs Middleton Squad), being held on Saturday, May 20th at Dorchester Bowls Club.

13/05/23: BOWLS DORSET – BALCOMBE TROPHY TEAM
Congratulations to Chris Kane for being selected to play for Dorset in the Balcombe Trophy competition.


15/05/23: AUSSIE PAIRS
Today saw the launch of the new “Aussie Pairs” Competition, kindly sponsored by Lakeside Fish & Chips. Information on how the Game is played can be found here and the current League Standings can be found here.


25/05/23: MILLIE TUCK
Congratulations to Millie Tuck for being selected to play in the England U18 team in the Home Nations Internationals in Wales in August. Good Luck Millie!


 

10/06/23: CHARITY SHOW 

One of our Members, Margaret Swift, is taking part in a charity Wester-themed all-singing, all-dancing show at Upton Community Centre on July 7th & 8th.

The show features many well-known songs from Musicals such as Calamity Jane, Oklahoma and Annie Get Your Gun, so plenty to of opportunity to get up and join in the Line Dancing!

Tickets are £12 (Concessions £10) and can be obtained from Margaret in advance, which means no queuing at the door. If there are sufficient numbers Margaret will endeavour to book tables so that Poole Park members can all sit together. Tickets are also available from the Box Office (07923 294103). A full-sized poster is on the Club Noticeboard.


 

21/06/23: HOT SHOTS!

Well done to Tony Hume, Roy Leake and Alan Mousley in achieving the maximum of 9 Shots on a single End, during a match in the “Percy Baker” League against Verwood on May 31st.

11/7/23: Ladies Top Club

Congratulations to our Ladies “Top Club” Team on reaching the last 16 in the National Top Club Competition. Only one game, against Kings (Torquay) stands between them and a place in the National Finals at Leamington in August. Good Luck Ladies!

Yet more success for Poole Park in the Singles events to qualify to National Finals in Leamington in August.

24/07/23: Yet more success for Poole Park!
 
This weekends County Finals delivered two more teams qualifying for the National Finals next month.
 
 
Congratulations to Bridget Hodder, Julie Leake, Stef Pinson and Tania Cordial for winning the Ladies Senior Fours, and to Oliver Kenway for winning the U25 pairs (alongside teammate Alex Dytham).
 
 
Our Mens 4s unfortunately missed out on a Nationals place as they were beaten in their very close County Final, but to finish as Runners-Up is still quite an achievement and well done to Bob Atkins, Dave Hodgkis, Barry Gage and Andy Paulley.
 
 
Poole Park will be extremely well represented at Leamington Spa and we wish them all the best of luck in August!

28/08/23: BOWLS ENGLAND – NATIONAL FINALS

Poole Park Bowls Club were very well represented across a number of disciplines at this years National Finals at Royal Leamington Spa, which finished yesterday. Although we may not have any Champions this year, to actually reach this level in the game is a huge achievement given the number of Entrants from all over the Country.

A great turn-out for what is hoped to become an Annual Event, where the Ladies Section take on the Mens Section in a “Battle of The Sexes”. The Men may have scored the most Shots, but both Teams and the Club as a whole were winners on the day!
